The time beside the figure is that source’s own update time. This browser keeps the BDT rate until the source’s next update time, then requests it again. If the source cannot be read, or the BDT field is missing, the figure stays unavailable. This page does not keep a stand-in number.
A reference rate is not a transfer rate
A reference rate says how many taka one dollar converts to in that published series. A provider’s transfer rate is the rate in that provider’s quote for your amount, corridor, and payout. The two are easy to mix up because both are written as taka per dollar.
TakaCompare is being built to compare the transfer outcome, not only an exchange rate. This website does not yet compare live provider quotes, and it does not receive, hold, or transfer customer funds.
Why the family may receive a different amount
- The provider exchange rate can be above or below the reference rate.
- A transfer fee reduces what is left, especially on a small send amount.
- Bank deposit, a mobile wallet, and cash pickup can be priced differently.
- A promotion applies only when you are eligible for it. It is not the standard price.
- An applicable Bangladesh remittance incentive can change the taka received. Whether it applies, and whether the quote already includes it, is explained in the incentive guide. This page does not restate that percentage.
The recipient can therefore receive less than a simple conversion, or more, once a fee, a better provider rate, or a qualifying incentive is included. The provider’s own screen, at the moment of payment, is the amount that counts.

What is the dollar to taka rate today?
It is the reference USD to BDT rate from the named source in the block above, on the date that source gives. If that block says unavailable, this page is not showing a rate. It will not fill the gap with an estimate.
Is the USD/BDT reference rate the same as a money-transfer rate?
No. The reference rate is a currency series. A money-transfer rate is the provider’s rate for a particular transfer.
Why can the recipient receive less or more than a simple conversion?
Because the provider rate, the fee, the payout method, promotion eligibility, and any applicable Bangladesh incentive can all move the result away from reference rate times dollars.
How often is the rate updated?
ExchangeRate-API’s Open Access endpoint updates once a day. The time beside the rate is the source update time from that response. This page does not invent a newer time, and it shows Unavailable when that response cannot be read.
Does TakaCompare transfer money?
No. TakaCompare is a pre-launch comparison and referral project. It does not receive, hold, or transfer customer funds. The provider completes the transfer.
