Send Money to Bangladesh from USA

A money transfer from the United States starts in dollars and ends in taka. The question is how much the recipient actually gets. An advertised USD to BDT rate does not answer that by itself.

TakaCompare does not yet compare live quotes from companies that send from the USA. It does not receive, hold, or transfer the dollars. The provider completes the transfer.

Bank deposit, an eligible mobile-wallet payout, or cash pickup where that provider supports it.

This panel does not search US providers or calculate a payout. The $100 is an example amount, not a quote.

How much the recipient actually gets

On a transfer from the USA, the taka that arrives is the outcome of that quote. It can move with the dollars you enter, the provider’s transfer rate, the fee, the payout method, whether you qualify for a promotion, an applicable Bangladesh remittance incentive, how the provider treats that incentive, how soon the provider says the money may arrive, and how fresh the quote is. Not every provider uses every one of those pieces.

Final estimated BDT received. That is the figure worth comparing when you send USD to Bangladesh. TakaCompare does not calculate it across US providers today. The provider’s own screen, for your amount and payout, is the quote that counts.

A reference USD/BDT rate is not the transfer

The dollar to taka reference rate is a published currency conversion: how many taka one US dollar converts to in that series, at the time the source gives. It is useful before you send, because it tells you the currency level. It is not the rate a company in the United States will apply to your transfer, and it is not the amount your family will receive.

A provider transfer rate is the rate on that company’s quote for your dollars, your payout, and your customer status. The recipient outcome is what remains after the fee and the conditions on that same quote. Those three numbers can all be written near the word “taka,” which is why they get mixed up.

The path from a US dollar to taka

You start in the United States with USD. You choose a provider you are allowed to use — TakaCompare does not yet name or rank those companies. You enter a dollar amount. The provider shows the rate and fee it is offering, and an expected taka figure for a payout it actually supports on a send to Bangladesh. You pay that provider. The provider, not TakaCompare, completes the transfer.

Speed belongs on that quote when the provider states it. A delivery line from one company is not a promise that another company moves money on the same timetable. A quote can also go stale: the rate you saw earlier in the day may not be the rate on the payment screen.

How the taka can be paid out

These are categories, not a list of what any US company currently offers. Confirm the method on the provider’s quote before you pay.

  • Bank-account deposit

Taka paid into a bank account in Bangladesh. The account details and the timing come from that provider.

  • Mobile-wallet payout

Taka paid into a wallet, only where both the provider and the wallet allow a transfer from the United States. People often ask about bKash. The bKash guide records what bKash says about receiving from abroad. It does not say which US companies can pay into a bKash account.

  • Cash pickup

The recipient collects cash, where that provider supports pickup. Locations and identification rules are the provider’s, not this website’s.

Incentive, and the risk of counting it twice

An applicable Bangladesh remittance incentive can change the final taka. Eligibility is not automatic for every dollar sent from the United States, and a quote may already include the incentive, exclude it, or not qualify at all. Adding the incentive on top of a quote that already contains it double-counts the taka. Ignoring it on a quote that leaves it out can understate what the family receives, if that transfer is eligible.

The rules this site has checked are kept in the Bangladesh remittance incentive guide. This page does not restate a percentage. Read that guide against the provider’s own wording before you treat an incentive as part of the outcome.

Why the dollar rate alone can mislead

Hypothetical illustration for a $500 send from the USA. These fees and rates are invented. They are not US provider quotes, and they do not say which pattern is usually cheaper.

  • Offer A

A $15 fee, so $485 is converted at 122 taka per dollar. Illustrated result: 59,170 BDT.

  • Offer B

No fee, so the full $500 is converted at 120 taka per dollar. Illustrated result: 60,000 BDT.

In this made-up pair, the lower taka-per-dollar rate leaves more taka because the fee is not taken out of the $500 first. A different fee, or a wider gap between the rates, can reverse that. Compare the recipient BDT on two real quotes that use the same dollar amount. Do not treat either column as an offer available in the United States.

Before you choose a transfer

Use the same dollar amount on every quote you look at. TakaCompare cannot run this checklist against live US providers yet.

  1. Enter the same USD amount

A fee and a rate can both change when the dollar amount changes. Keep the amount fixed while you compare.

  2. Read the recipient BDT

That figure, not only the headline taka-per-dollar rate, is the outcome.

  3. Check the fee

See whether it is taken in dollars before conversion, and how large it is on this amount.

  4. Confirm the payout method

Bank deposit, a wallet, and cash pickup can be priced differently, and a provider may not offer all three from the USA.

  5. Check who the promotion is for

A new-customer or promotional rate applies only if you qualify. It is not the rate every sender gets.

  6. See if an incentive is already inside the quote

Do not add an applicable Bangladesh incentive a second time if the provider has already included it.

  7. Confirm the provider and the destination

The continuation is with that provider, for a transfer to Bangladesh. TakaCompare does not take the payment.

What a US comparison is being built to show

When verified provider data exists for sends from the United States, the comparison is intended to show the transfer outcome and then hand off to the provider. That view is not live.

US comparison results

None yet

No US provider is named. No dollar fee, taka amount, rank, or delivery time is shown.

  • Provider

The company offering that send from the USA, named only when the data is verified.

  • Estimated BDT received

The taka figure for that dollar amount and payout.

  • Transfer fee

The charge on that send, kept separate from the headline rate.

  • Transfer rate

The provider’s USD to BDT rate on that quote, which can differ from the reference rate.

  • Payout method

How the recipient is paid on that option.

  • Delivery estimate

Shown only where the provider supplies one.

  • Eligibility

Promotion and customer conditions, including whether you qualify.

  • Quote freshness and handoff

When the quote was updated, then a continuation with the provider. The provider still completes the transfer. TakaCompare would not hold the dollars.

Questions

What should I compare on a transfer from the USA?

The recipient’s expected taka for the same dollar amount, together with the fee, the payout method, and whether a promotion or an applicable incentive is already inside that quote. The headline USD to BDT rate is only one input.

Is the dollar to taka reference rate the rate I will get?

No. The reference rate is a currency series. A US provider’s transfer rate is the rate on that provider’s quote. They are not the same number, and neither one replaces the taka figure on the payment screen.

Can I see US providers on TakaCompare today?

No. Live comparison for money transfers from the United States to Bangladesh is not available. This page does not rank companies or show their prices.

Does TakaCompare send the money?

No. TakaCompare is a pre-launch comparison and referral project. It does not receive, hold, or transfer customer funds. You continue with the provider, and the provider completes the transfer.
