How much does your family actually receive when you send money to Bangladesh?

An advertised exchange rate is one input. The amount that arrives is the result of that rate together with the fee, who qualifies for a promotion, how the money is paid out, and any Bangladesh incentive that actually applies.

Start from the amount received

The useful question is how much the recipient is estimated to get, in taka, for the amount you send. A higher headline rate can still leave the family with less if the fee is higher, the promotion does not apply to you, or the payout method you need is priced differently.

What can change the result

  • The send amount. Some fees are flat, so the same offer looks different at a small amount and a large one.
  • The exchange rate applied to that transfer, not a rate shown without an amount.
  • The transfer fee, included in the comparison rather than left outside it.
  • Promotion eligibility. A new-customer price is not a price every sender can use, and a promotion is not the standard price.
  • The payout method. Bank deposit, a mobile wallet, and cash pickup can differ in cost, speed, and who can receive that way.
  • Any Bangladesh remittance incentive that applies to that transfer. It should be counted once. If the provider’s figure already includes it, adding it again overstates what the family receives.

Two quotes are comparable only on the same terms

A quote for £200 to a bank account is not the same offer as a quote for £200 to a wallet, or as a quote shown yesterday. Delivery time and who is allowed to use the offer belong with the price. The provider’s own transaction screen, at the moment you pay, is the figure that counts.
